Hi Rab
It's a good question you ask, "why on earth would several officers, from several individual police forces, form an alliance with the express purpose of bringing down an individual politician?"
It's not easy to answer but why on earth did the police officers not simply say yes sir and open the gate for a cabinet minister. Or I'm sorry sir I don't have the key. It didn't look on the video like a big deal and there wasn't a lot of time for many insults.
I can't remember the details but there was also the strange business of a police officer who wasn't even present making some kind of incriminating statement.
My money would be in support of Andrew Mitchell on this one.

Hi Raymond, this whole thing has gone from the sublime to the totally ridiculous, with all parties accusing the others of lying or refusing to state what was said.
The IPCC deputy chairwoman Deborah Glass made a statement which was her own view, and not that of the IPCC, and I heard on the radio this morning that there are now threats of legal action against those who have publicly stated the IPCC has confirmed the police were lying.
It is getting more and more like a Monty Python sketch the longer it goes on.
I could understand the cops involved pursuing a vendetta against Mitchell after the gate incident, but I cannot accept that incident at the gate was a deliberate set up in order to crucify one Member of Parliament.
As you say, it was over in the blink of an eye on CCTV, and there looked to be nothing untoward.
Unfortunately this is going to run and run and will provide a distraction and a smoke screen for the Government whilst they get up to some other underhanded tricks.
Or am I just being a cynical old hack eh?
Cheers, Rab.

Juvenal said it best:

"already long ago, from when we sold our vote to no man, the People have abdicated our duties; for the People who once upon a time handed out military command, high civil office, legions - everything , now restrains itself and anxiously hopes for just two things: bread and circuses"

getting public approval through diversion, distraction or meeting the immediate, shallow requirements of the populace is standard fodder nowadays.

Look at Obama going on Late Night Talk shows to "converse" with the American people. An actual news conference; no, just another form of entertainment. Tell a joke, look cool and people give you higher personal approval ratings but disapprove of what the "government" is doing! If it works in the USA, why not elsewhere?

I have just watched it on I player. You are just so right Rab. Dimblby is past it. The labour man was given far too much uninterupted time, and the whole thing was just third rate following the BBC agenda. They dont tell you that the audience is hand selected and the questions are picked , not always the most asked question if it does not suit the BBCs requirements.

The things you see when even having a gun handy would do you no good!!!!
My flabber has been totally gasted by QT tonight.
It could have been worse I suppose, but fortunately Julian Clary was said to be busy backstage with a politician.
Cheers 'n' beers, and without prejudice of course, Rab.

You old bigot Rab.

I thought Harriet Saergent was the transgender until Mrs T corrected me.

Hope the toughened glass tv screen withstood the kicking it undoubtedly received. Same time next week?

Plbgate...what a total waste of public time and money. All for "pricipalled" individuals who have behaved badly. They want their heads banging together.

When you think back to the great BBC programms on current afairs, to what we have now.To me its just one giant con. They are all in it together, just feeding us crumbs of information and doing nothing. Where are the investigations into the EU, NHS,BBC, Police, civil service.etc. These are none. They just do not want to rock the boat. This weeks panel are as bad as it gets.Who were the 2 wommen, I have never heard of them.

Hi Johnny, it seems everyone else is too PC to enlighten you, but there was only one ‘off the peg’ female on QT last night, and that was Harriet Sergeant, a journalist and author and erstwhile policy study specialist. The older looking grey haired lady.
The other was a ‘bespoke, made to measure’ creation, who used to be a male criminal, but is now a ‘celebrity’ of whom very few people have heard, other than the vociferous minority who feel the BBC are right to have panellists such as this representing the views of the people watching the show.
Makes you wonder who will grace the table next week?
Cheers ‘n’ beers, Rab.

What !!!

"who used to be a male criminal" My God what is happening to us.

The BBC is just so narrow pushing any cause is can so long as its not mainstream. Mind you it probably thinks it is.
