An interesting gift. Better than expected, taste reminds me of a Famous Grouse only better.

To tie in with a couple of threads currently on the go starting off the night with a few Lowlanders from Bladnoch .
First up a 1992 from cask 2610 , this one had the Christmas Spirit Label on it . I'll stick with my original tasting notes on this one.....
Nose - Absolute pure Christmas cake in the Glass ! Cake dough dried fruits , spices , Glace Cherries . But still the Grass of a lowlands Meadow comes through.....
Taste - Again Liquid Christmas cake , Coats the palate beautifully , a real pleasure to have in the mouth , very pleasing.......
Finish - Long and slightly more sherried than the previous ones . Seems more Menthol on this one or is it Humbug sweets ?
Comments -Distilled 15th July 1992 , bottled 2008. My oh my (to quote Slade....) another exceptional Dram from the 1992 26xx parcel.....

Moved onto 2617.....
Nose - A very nice dried Sherry nose to it , More than a hint of mint humbugs , Still the Grass and citrus come through as well .
Taste - Another well balanced sherried whisky , Christmas cake , sherry and spices . A lovely hot peppermintness to it .
Finish - Long and dry with Mint humbugs .
Comments - Another Cracker from 1992 , Distilled 15th July 1992 , Bottled 28th January 2008 . Bottle No. 103 of 317 . What can you say about these casks , superb !

2615 is now in the glass.....
Nose - This one isn't as sherried as the others .A very large hint of lowland grassiness , then your typical Christmas Cake in a glass loads of Dried fruits , spices .
Taste - A lovely feel on the palate , the sherry and the spirit intermix wonderfully , the sherry isn't over powering , a near as damn perfect sherried whisky.....
Finish - Long , smooth sherry with citrus and grass meadows right at the very end .
Comments - I can now see why this was one of my Favourites from this parcel , near as damn perfect . Distilled 15th July 1992 , Bottled 28th February 2008 . Bottle No. 341 of 550 . A cracking dram .

2616......
Nose - A lot drier than 2615 ,but pretty much the same nose .
Taste - Definitely drier than the others , more pronounced on the sherry front , Christmas Cake Dough and a touch of struck matches (which i've never noticed before) .
Finish - Long , warm sherried finish , bags of Cake dough , spices , dried fruits .
Comments -Not as nice as the 2615 but still a good sherried malt .Distilled 15th July 1992 , Bottled 19th June 2008 .

Got stuck into the Cadenhead's Glengarioch 18 year old, 50.3%. Bit of an eye opener for me when I tasted it in the shop and that continues at home.

Started early with Bladnoch 15 year old sherried cask 2615 which arrived today, and can add nothing to Gordon's tasting note a few posts prior to this one.
Been trying it back to back with the current 12 year old sherried, and the earlier Diageo distillation seems to be much more subtle than the current dram. As Gordon says, the sherry is there but it is not a monster by any stretch of the imagination.
They are both first class whiskies.
Will be chasing them down with a Nikka All Malt and an 11 year old Benrinnes from Provenance later, well I had to order enough to make the case up!!
Cheers 'n' beers, Rab.
