May you all be blessed. For although now we cannot drink between Sunup and Sundown, at least in public.... but God is merciful, the shops are stocked with that special potion from N. England... VIMPTO.

I know not why!

Slainte.

PS shall be at Bladnoch on 15th.

Vimto! The best thing to come out of Manchester.

Not counting the A34, that is...

I have not tried it but I have been told of the alcoholic version of Vimto. Blue WKD (an alcopop) with a measure of port. Apparently it turns the same colour as the soft drink and tastes similar too.

Livvy,

My childhood memories of Vimto include a tongue colouration,

An update, there is also on sale a 'pirate' version produced in Lebanon. No note on the lable regarding any licence.

Never mind I shall drink whisky at about 00.50 on Friday morning after the Kloggy Luftfahrt Maatchapy take off.

6 hours later I can drink in the Irish Bar at gate 11 Schipol.

Hi Livvy

We like that alcholic version in our house too. They are called Cheeky Vimto round our way.

To be really appreciated Cremola Foam was best spooned into the mouth as powder.

Another nostalgic feeding ritual was spooning condensed milk.

Sad how things change, now there is only liquid whisky.

A quick Google search reveals some interesting articles on how the recipe was lost and the attempt to bring back Cremola Custard. Also reference to something called Ahoj Brause which is the nearest alternative to Cremola Foam - you can buy it on line, apparently. If anyone decides to do that I'm sure we'd be interested in a report on the tasting (including the Woodruff flavour)!

Cremola Foam-jings I had forgotten that one-but exactly; if you were caught taking it neat by the spoon you were walloped.

Just to drag an old thread back to life, I was in Castle Douglas yesterday and The Toffee Shop had tins of Creamola Foam - now branded as Krakatoa Foam.

There cannot be many forums on the internet which do not have threads about Creamola Foam. I loved the stuff, but it begs the question. Had it not disappeared from the shelves when it did, would it still be as wonderful as we remember it now?
Cheers, Rab.
